Donna Cantu

Costume Technician

About Me!

Hi there, thanks for stopping by!

I’m Donna Cantu, a technician with a passion for stitching, dressing, and electrics! I’m currently a year long intern at PCPA - Pacific Conservatory Theatre. I primarily stitch, but am currently the Wardrobe Supervisor on PCPA’s production of Measure for Measure. Once i’ve completed this internship, I will be heading back to the Santa Fe Opera as a Stitching Apprentice!

On this website you’ll find projects I've worked on throughout my two years as a conservatory student at PCPA, my work from a summer internship at The Santa Fe Opera as a stitcher/dresser, and I'm adding in work from my current internship bit by bit.

Right now i’m looking to travel through work and soak up what others have to share from their own experiences and backgrounds in this industry.

Featured Project

Anna Coronation

I was the stitcher on this dress, designed by Ryan Molar and Draped by Tracee Bear.

The bares bones of this garment were originally built in four days and after that fitting some fit and design alterations needed to be done like adding more panels into the skirt! I had quite a ball with all the flatlining that went into this project, with the bodice as well as the appliqué fabric that was flatlined onto panels of the skirt and bodice, rather then cutting and sewing each appliqué onto the dress individually. We also needed to accommodate quick changes that were going to happen onstage, meaning attaching the shirt and bodice, slicing her up and putting a zipper down the middle!
